Red for remembrance

The Central Highlands Regional Council office will light up red in support of the Queensland Remembers initiative.

From Friday 9 November to Sunday 11 November 2018, council will mark the 100-year anniversary of the signing of the Armistice.

The historical document led to the end of the World War I and Mayor Kerry Hayes said the building is lit up with pride and in memory of those who died in the line of duty.

‘Next weekend the council office in Emerald is lighting up red to reflect the red poppy worn on Remembrance Day,’ he said.

‘Council joins Queensland landmarks, buildings and bridges across the state to honour the 57,705 Queensland soldiers who enlisted in the first world war.’
