The City of Ballarat welcomes the announcement a re-elected State Government would fix some of Ballarat’s worst traffic bottlenecks by investing in a suite of vital intersection upgrades all across the municipality.

Ballarat Mayor Cr Samantha McIntosh said Ballarat’s rapid population growth had caused increasing congestion on many of the city’s major roads.

“We welcome this funding announcement which would provide for greatly improved traffic flow at many of Ballarat’s worst intersections,” Cr McIntosh said.

“As well, new traffic lights, new roundabouts and upgraded school crossings would improve safety and access on many roads throughout the city.”

“Our communities will benefit greatly from having a faster and safer commute around Ballarat.

“Our road network is a vital part of making our regional city one of the most liveable in Australia, and these upgrades will only enhance Ballarat’s reputation as a great place to live and work.

“This proposal would bring great transport benefits to Ballarat and I am pleased the State Government has recognised how vitally important transport connectivity is to our city.”
