(2/11/2018) Italian Sister City guests arrive in Freo

City of Fremantle 2 Nov 2018

For the past week the City of Fremantle has been pleased to host some special guests from our Italian Sister City Capo d’Orlando.

Anita Paparone, representing the Mayor of Capo d’Orlando Dr Francesco Ingrilli, and Comandante Maria Teresa Castano were invited to Fremantle to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Blessing of the Fleet.

The tiny statue of the Madonna di Capo d’Orlando was gifted to Fremantle in 1952 and continues to be a focal point of the annual Blessing of the Fleet procession.

During their visit our guests have also attended the Wardarnji Festival (pictured above), had a tour of the sights and sounds of Fremantle and taken a trip over to Rottnest.
