East Gippsland Shire Council’s new Brodribb River Boat Ramp, opened in July, has had some extra features added in recent weeks.
Two new access rails were fitted to the floating pontoons by Council staff to assist with people being able to embark and disembark their boats easier. Such rails are being fixed to all floating jetties at boat ramps, and will be included at the soon-to-be-built new Eagle Point facility.
Council will also fit rails, in the style of yellow pedestrian crossing arches, to prevent trip hazards on either side of the ramp where concrete lips are protruding.
These rails were assessed as a better approach than grinding the concrete, as the latter would have exposed the reinforced mesh to the elements.
