Liverpool City Council is committed to providing a quality café experience in Bigge Park.
Council is upgrading The Shed facility and its surrounds as part of the larger Bigge Park upgrade. This has been planned for two years.
We thank the operators of The Shed. They have added life to the park during this trial period. Now we want to take it further with an upgraded facility on a long-term lease.
Under NSW legislation, Council is legally required to undertake a formal procurement process for any long-term leasing of community land.
Council will double the footprint of the existing facility. Council will install a grease trap, allowing for a permanent, commercial kitchen and will improve external dining areas.
There will also be a separate building for waste disposal and Council’s park maintenance equipment.
The improvements will mean a better facility for customers.
The operators of The Shed were involved in extensive discussions with Council and were given four weeks’ notice of the temporary closure.
They will be invited to participate in the formal procurement process.
