Outspoken author to visit Cessnock Library

In an exciting author talk event at Cessnock Library, Father Rod Bower will speak about his autobiography, Outspoken: The Life and Work of the Man Behind Those Signs from 10.30am to 12noon on Thursday 15 November.

It all started in July 2013 with a church roadside sign: ‘Dear Christians. Some PPL are gay. Get Over It. Love God’. It was this sign that sparked a social media revolution and catapulted Father Rod Bower onto the public stage.

Father Rod now has a social media following of close to 65,000 people and uses this platform to raise questions about Australia’s corporate soul, to assert that we are all brothers and sisters – asylum seekers, Muslims, those identifying as LGBTI and Indigenous Australians.

In this new book, Father Rod also reveals details of his childhood growing up in the Hunter region with his adopted family and his formative years that included coping with the sudden loss of his father, leaving school at sixteen to become a butcher in Newcastle and the search for his birth mother.

This is a free event, but bookings are essential. Don’t miss out and reserve your spot today by calling the team at Cessnock Library on 4993 4399.

Copies of Outspoken will also be available for purchase on the day for $35 each.
