The Country Fire Authority has declared the Fire Danger Period for the Macedon Ranges Shire will begin at 1am on Monday 12 November 2018.
Once the Fire Danger Period comes into effect, fire restrictions come into force.
This means you cannot light a fire in the open air for burning off unless you have a permit and comply with certain requirements.

Council’s Acting Director Assets and Operations, Anne-Louise Lindner reminded residents of the need to be prepared for bushfire.
“The Fire Danger Period has been declared earlier than usual, which means there is potential for an earlier and longer fire season,” Ms Lindner said. “It’s important that people prepare their properties now and that they have a well-developed bushfire plan.
“Prevention is everyone’s responsibility and early action can help prevent fires threatening lives and property.”
To assist residents with cleaning up their properties, green waste disposal is available free at Council transfer stations.
To access Council’s free green waste disposal service you must be a ratepayer or tenant within Macedon Ranges Shire and must provide evidence of residence such as an original rates notice or driver’s license.
Only domestic quantities will be accepted in any single transaction, such as 6x4 or 7x5 trailer loads. Charges will apply for larger loads, commercial customers and people who live outside of the shire. Those without proof of residence will be charged applicable gate fees. Green waste must be free of weeds, wire and other rubbish.
Transfer stations are located in Kyneton, Romsey and Woodend. Check transfer station opening days and hours.
