2018-19 RADF Grants One now open

Artists in the Burdekin region are encouraged to apply for a share in Round One of the 2018-19 Regional Arts Development Fund, which opens on Monday 5 November.

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Burdekin Shire Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.

Past Burdekin RADF projects include writing workshops, crystal glaze workshops, art exhibitions, visual arts professional development and school concerts.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said RADF grants helped get meaningful artistic projects off the ground.

“The pool of funding for 2018-19 is $43,000, with $30,000 of that being contributed by Arts Queensland and a further $13,000 by Burdekin Shire Council,” Cr McLaughlin said.

“RADF provides critical funding for local artists, enabling them to realise their artistic visions for the benefit of the local community.”

Queensland Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said investing in creative and cultural experiences through RADF strengthened regional communities, boosted cultural tourism, and enhanced the quality of life in rural and remote towns and cities.

“RADF is a unique partnership between the Queensland Government and Burdekin Shire Council to support local talent, unite communities and celebrate the arts across the state.

“The Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland, is contributing $2.08 million in 2018-19 in partnership with 58 councils state-wide to help deliver cultural experiences which align with local priorities,” Ms Enoch said.

Successful applicants will be determined by the Burdekin RADF committee, which is made up by Council and Community representatives.

Applicants can apply for up to $500 for Developing Individual Skills and up to $5,000 for all other application categories.

Priority projects for 2018-19 are:

Applications which increase participation of priority communities including children and young people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse community, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people with disabilities;Applications which invest in cultural and community programs; andSkills development and mentoring for artists and arts workers.

Round One will open on Monday 5 November and closes at 5pm on Monday 26 November.
