Twin Rivers, share your thoughts

Twin Rivers district community members are invited to participate in their own community survey as part of an East Gippsland Shire Council community planning project.

The survey will inform the development of the Twin Rivers District Community Plan 2019-2024 for the communities of Nicholson, Johnsonville, Swan Reach, Tambo Upper, Bumberrah and surrounds.

Council staff are working in partnership with the Twin Rivers community and key agencies to create five-year district level community plan to shape a plan that reflects how it is now, what are the changes, challenges and opportunities occurring in each district and what their district could look like in the future. 

Council’s Director Community Strategy Kate Nelson said it is a different way for community, council and other key agencies to work together to plan and make decisions as a district.

“A workshop was held at the Johnsonville Hall on Monday, October 29 to continue to develop the community profile, and provide an opportunity for community to have input into the questions that need to be included in the community survey,” Ms Nelson said.

“The information gathered through the survey will be collated with the asset mapping information from the first workshop held in August.

“The community survey is the next stage in the process and gives community members the opportunity to tell us about their experience of living in their district and community, what is important to them and what they want for the future of your district and community. The survey ensures residents who can’t participate in the upcoming workshops in December an opportunity to have input into the planning process and to have their voice heard.”

Twin Rivers residents can complete the survey online at http://bit.ly/TwinRivSurvey or can obtain a paper copy by contacting Council’s community planning team on (03) 5153 9500 or online via the Your Say East Gippsland website. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the Nicholson, Johnsonville and Swan Reach general stores.

Residents are asked to complete the survey by November 28.

The One Place, One Plan project is funded by the Australian Government, Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development Building Better Regions Fund Community Investment Stream.
