The final countdown is on for Viva la Gong, with only one more sleep till the festival sweeps into MacCabe Park Wollongong on Saturday 10 November 2018.
“There’s a lot happening this year that is sure to keep all ages entertained,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said. “Look out for the four stages across the venue, the Viva Film Tent, circus performances, art and craft workshops, family entertainment, music parade, creative displays and more.
“Jump online and check out the festival program to start planning your day out. Keep in mind that the festival runs from 12noon till 9pm so plan ahead to make sure you don’t miss your favourite performance.”
Viva la Gong kicks off with a Welcome to Country on the Main Stage by local Aboriginal elder Bev Armer and a dance performance by the Little Ngargens Dancers followed by the Lord Mayor’s welcome.
Viva la Gong is a sustainable festival, and works with Green Connect to support festival goers to manage their rubbish.
“I’d also encourage people make their visit to Viva la Gong sustainable by bringing along reusable eating utensils, plates, water bottles, reusable cups and straws,” Cr Bradbery said. “There will be prizes on offer for those being waste wise!”
What’s on for families?
There are plenty of activities to keep the kids busy. Visit the Family Interactive Zone for writing and circus workshops, an adventure playground, ukulele lessons and more!
Feeling creative?

Japanese rock band, Stompin Riffraffs, will end the night with fast and furious beats.
