Nominations for the 2019 Australia Day Awards are closing on Friday, 16 November 2018. Council is encouraging residents to nominate community members who tirelessly volunteer their time and talents for the betterment of our region.
The Australia Day Awards Program recognises the valuable achievements of individuals for being outstanding role models and community advocates. They are individuals and groups who have excelled in their chosen field, be it sport, arts or culture.
Categories include:
Citizen of the Year Young Citizen of the Year Community Event Sportsperson of the Year Young Sportsperson of the Year Sports Administrator of the Year Cultural Person of the Year Young Cultural Person of the Year“Countless hours are contributed to our community weekly by many residents through charities, committees, organisations and sporting groups. We want to recognise these outstanding individuals and groups. Communities like ours are vibrant because of the hard work and generosity of these individuals and groups.” said Mayor Liz Schmidt
“We need the community to nominate these people, so we can recognise their contributions and say thank you for all their hard work.”
Award nominations is an easy process and can be completed in a few minutes. All nominees will be invited to attend the Charters Towers Regional Council Australia Day Awards, with the winners announced at the ceremony.
