Eurobodalla Council’s popular Shakespeare in the Garden will return in January 2019 with two performances of the much-loved classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Theatre-goers can relax on a midsummer evening in the beautiful Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden and enjoy Shakespeare’s most wondrous comedy, presented by Essential Theatre.

Council’s Creative Arts Development Coordinator Indi Carmichael said she was thrilled to again partner with the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden for the event.

“Our last two Shakespeare in the Garden performances sold out and we expect tickets will again sell fast,” she said.

“There is a great appetite for good theatre in our region, and Essential Theatre is absolutely top notch.

“When you add the spectacular garden setting to the mix, you have a magical combination.”

A Midsummer Night’s Dream has been loved for more than 400 years and continues to weave its spells worldwide.

It centres on four young lovers who find themselves wrapped in the dream-like arms of an enchanted forest, where sprites play and fairies rule.

A feuding Fairy King and Queen cross paths with Bottom, Quince and their bumbling mates presenting a play within a play.

Leading mischief-maker Puck is on-hand to ensure the course of true love is anything but smooth, and games of fantasy, love and dreams ensue.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream will play at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 January 2019. Gates open at 5.30pm for a 6.30pm performance.
