12 November 2018 - Media release.

Construction is set to start early in the New Year on a section of Lake Road, Kyabram, following the announcement of state government funding.

Campaspe Shire Council Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said the 205 metre section of Lake Road, between Fenaughty and Pettifer Streets, will be completely resurfaced and receive significant drainage upgrades.

“The road may have limited access during the works which are expected to run from January to April 2019,” Cr Weston said.

“Access to properties, council and community facilities will be managed by the successful contractor to minimise disruption,” the Mayor said.

The state government is contributing $612,056 to the project, with council funding the balance of $56,028.

“With the state government funding the majority of the project, this is a great win for ratepayers and the Kyabram community as a whole.”

“Funds that council previously assigned to Lake Road can now be used to bring forward other works in Campaspe.”

The section of road was identified as a priority in council’s 2018/19 capital works program due to its failing surface, along with being an important access road for people coming into town from the south.

“With this section of Lake Road currently not draining well, replacing the gutters will more effectively drain water off the road and limit the risk of flooding to the neighbouring properties,” Cr Weston said.
