Kingston Council supports Riding for the Disabled's fantastic work

Kingston Council has delivered a new state-of-the-art 'Changing Places' all-abilities toilet and access ramp serve Moorabbin's popular Riding for the Disabled group.

Mayor Steve Staikos said Council was proud to support the good work over the more than 100 volunteers at the RDA Moorabbin branch.

Council invested $200,000 on the Changing Places facility new ramp.

"We're thrilled to provide these fantastic new facilities which have replaced outdated toilets with high-quality toilets with proper equipment to make it easier for riders and their carers," Cr Staikos said.

"The new ramps also make it far easier to help people with disabilities to mount their horses and enjoy the riding sessions. It was a pleasure to visit the site and see first-hand how much they were enjoying the horses."

Changing Places facilities are larger-than-standard accessible toilets and have extra features and more space to meet the needs of people with a disability and their carers.

Each facility has a height-adjustable, adult-sized changing bench, a tracking hoist system, space for two people and a safer and cleaner environment.

Riding for the Disabled Victoria, established more than 40 years ago, is run by volunteers and helps over 1200 people of various ages and abilities.
