Council Works – Week ending 9 November 2018

“For the week ending 9 November, the following key works were completed by Council staff”, noted Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ray Thompson.

“Within the urban Lithgow area, Council staff have focussed on concreting work throughout the urban Lithgow area. This has included driveway repairs, kerb and gutter repairs as well as footpath repairs. Additionally, the unsealed road maintenance of Hartley Valley Road has been completed and as such, staff have commenced work on the grading of Crane Road, Lithgow.”

“This week, our rural works staff worked one final rostered day off in order to control and repair sealed road defects, namely along Glen Alice Road and Magpie Hollow Road. Earlier in the week though, stormwater drainage repairs were conducted on Curly Dick Road, Meadow Flat and roadside slashing has occurred on Wolgan Road, Lidsdale, Thompsons Creek Road, Portland and Rocky Waterhole Drive, Wallerawang.”

“Alongside maintenance works, Council’s staff have been prioritising progress with regard to capital improvement of public assets. This week, the design and quotation documentation has been completed and distributed to the public for the required improvements to the Wallerawang Rail Overbridge. Additionally, progress has been made with regard to the Marrangaroo stormwater improvements with the clearing of stormwater drains adjacent to the Great Western Highway. John Holland Rail have committed to additional clearing next week.”

“The most important resource at Council’s disposal is its staff and they take great pride in the work they do for their local community”, said Mayor Thompson. “To provide the best possible levels of service to our community, Council has identified the requirement for additional operational and professional staff. As time goes on, these vacant positions will be widely publicised with the aim of recruiting the best possible candidates across a range of services, from mechanics to works and traffic engineers.”
