Council invites Expressions of Interest from people interested in being volunteer members of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan Monitoring Group. This group is a forum for stakeholders and representatives to monitor progress of Council’s four year Disability Inclusion Action Plan.

The Disability Inclusion Action Plan is Council’s four year programme to achieve the requirements of the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014 and its four Focus Areas which were identified by people with disability as being where significant barriers to inclusion and access currently exist:

Attitudes and behaviour toward people with disability; Creating liveable communities; Supporting access to meaningful employment; Improving access to mainstream services through better systems and process.

Up to Nine (9) people over 18 years of age may join the DIAP Monitoring Group. These people will have personal or professional experience of disability or mobility restrictions, a commitment to improving equity of access in Broken Hill and the ability to demonstrate a strong understanding or interest in people living with a disability. Business owners, tourism operators and parents and carers of people with disability or mobility issues are welcome to apply.

This group will meet two times per year in line with progress reporting to Council. Meeting dates, times and venue will be advised.

To express an interest in joining this Monitoring Group, please complete the online Expression of Interest Form detailing your interest and experience with disability.

Expressions must be received by Friday, 30 November 2018.
