Wollongong City Council is seeking community feedback on Places for People, the new planning framework that will guide Council’s future planning for community and cultural facilities.
This plan was endorsed by Council to go out for public comment and it is currently on exhibition until 26 November 2018. Copies of the document can be viewed on the Council website or at your local library.
“Council offers a wide range of spaces and places for community use, from public halls and community facilities, through recreation and sporting facilities to cultural venues. This social infrastructure is spread across the Wollongong Local Government Area and varies in age, purpose and use,” explains Wollongong City Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery AM
“Council has a vision for our social infrastructure to be of a high quality and to be used as much as possible by our community.
“The changing needs of the community mean that Council must continually review the social infrastructure that we offer to our residents, businesses and visitors. We need to identify where and when new spaces and places are required and where and when existing assets should be renewed, re-purposed or retired.”
Places for People is a new framework that Council will use to plan for the future of our social infrastructure assets. It aims to ensure that the needs of the community as a whole and the needs of local areas across Wollongong are considered and that we deliver the best value to our community through the facilities we provide.
Written submissions are to be received by 5pm on Monday 26 November, 2018.
