Cr Wayne Phillips elected as Banyule Mayor

Beale Ward Councillor Wayne Phillips has been elected as Mayor of Banyule for 2018/2019.

The Mayoral Election was held on Monday 12 November at the Banyule Council Chambers in Ivanhoe.

Cr Phillips has served as a councillor at Banyule City Council since 2005 and was deputy mayor in 2017/2018. This will be his sixth time as Banyule’s mayor.

Cr Alison Champion was elected deputy mayor for 2018/2019. 

Cr Philips said he was privileged to have the chance to serve as mayor again and looked forward to working with Council and the community as to make Banyule an even greater place to live, work and enjoy.

“I would like to congratulate the outgoing mayor Cr Mark Di Pasquale for his dedication to our community, he really did an outstanding job” Cr Phillips said.

“Banyule is in good hands, we are well placed to deliver quality services for our community and I look forward to keeping our Council group working harmoniously together over the next year”.

“I know that the wealth of experience of my colleagues will provide valuable support for me, as we continue together to deliver on our plan for Banyule’s future.”
