East Gippsland Shire Council is calling all community members who live in Bendoc, Tubbut, Bonang, Cabanadra, Deddick Valley, Haydens Bog, Delegate River, Dellicknora and surrounds to participate in a community survey to support the development of a district community plan.
Council staff are working in partnership with communities and key agencies to create five-year (2019-24), district level community plan to reflect how it is now, what are the changes, challenges and opportunities occurring in the district and what the district could look like in the future.
Council’s Director Community Strategy Kate Nelson said carrying out the community survey is the next important step in the district community planning process to help to build an understanding of who makes up the community.
“The survey gives community members the opportunity to tell us about their experience of living in their district and community, what is important to them and what they want for the future of your district and community,” Ms Nelson said.
“The survey ensures residents who can’t participate in the upcoming workshops in December an opportunity to have input into the planning process and to have their voice heard.”
Residents can complete the survey online at http://bit.ly/SurveyErinSnowy or can obtain a paper copy by contacting Council’s community planning team on (03) 5153 9500 or online via the Your Say East Gippsland website. The survey closes on November 28.
The survey follows on from conversations Council has already had with the Mountain Rivers (Errinundra to Snowy) District to understand how the communities work, live, play and connect. A workshop was held in Bendoc on November 1 to continue to develop the community profile, and as an opportunity for community to have input into the questions that need to be included in the community survey. Activities were also conducted as part of the Big Bonang Arvo on October 31. Asset mapping was undertaken at workshop in August workshop.
The One Place, One Plan project is funded by the Australian Government, Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development Building Better Regions Fund Community Investment Stream and is being trialed in the Cann River, Mountain Rivers (Errinundra to Snowy) and Twin Rivers districts.
