Armidale’s community Christmas tree will spring to life, ushering in the festive season, when Christmas in the Mall is held on Thursday 29 November.
Beardy Street Mall will be a hive of activity as Armidale Markets in the Mall partners with Council to hold the annual community event from 5pm.
Singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso Thor Phillips, a regular performer at blues and country music festivals throughout Australia, will entertain the crowd as he promotes his new album, Higher Ground.
The mall will be filled with an array of markets, there will be a visit from Santa and the Christmas tree will be lit after dark.
“This event has been steadily growing in popularity in recent years, bringing many people into the Armidale city centre for a wonderful family celebration,” Armidale Regional Council Mayor Simon Murray said.
It will be followed by the Guyra Christmas Party in Bradley Street on Friday 7 December at 5.30pm.
Council and the Rotary Club of Guyra are teaming up for the Guyra celebration, which includes the lighting of the town Christmas tree, market stalls, a visit by Santa and a school parade.
