City of Fremantle 14 Nov 2018

The City of Fremantle is inviting frazzled shoppers to take the stress and hard work out of Christmas this year by shopping in the heart of Freo.

Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said Freo offered WA’s best open air shopping experience, with a variety of quirky stores to find that gift with a difference, plus a host of places to relax and unwind after a successful shopping expedition.

“Christmas shopping can be hard work at the best of times, so we’re offering a way for people to make it a much more relaxed and enjoyable experience,” Mayor Pettitt said.

“Freo has a wide range of shopping options, including unique outlets that are the perfect place to find gifts for the special people in your in your life that are just impossible to buy for.

“We also have plenty of funky cafés for that afternoon pick me up, or reward yourself with a stop at one of Freo’s famous small bars or breweries once you’ve finally ticked that impossible gift off your list.”

The City of Fremantle’s Christmas campaign kicks off this week with the launch of the #shopFREO Christmas competition.

Two prizes of $500 to spend in your favourite shop in Fremantle will be drawn each Friday from 23 November to 21 December 2018.

Just ask for the unique code word when you spend $20 or more in a participating store, then head to the Fremantle Story website to enter.

The City has also produced a new Fremantle map highlighting key shopping areas in the city, the best places to park, toilets, things to do and places to grab a bite to eat or have a drink.

Early in December, Free Parking Santa and his elves will be back for their annual visit from the North Pole.

They’ll be appearing in Freo right up until Christmas looking for happy shoppers and paying for their parking. Check the City’s Facebook page for locations all through December.

The City is also working with the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce to coordinate a window display competition for shopfront business in Fremantle, with Sirona Capital providing $2500 in prizes for the best windows.
