White Ribbon Day is a worldwide movement to end men’s violence against women through primary prevention initiatives. Strathfield Council is a staunch supporter of this campaign and aims to heighten community awareness of domestic violence, as it has been reported by the Australian Bureau of Statistics that 1 in 4 women have experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner since the age of 15.
Strathfield Council is hosting a White Ribbon Day event at Strathfield Square on Friday 23 November from 2pm – 6pm, with an official opening taking place at 3.30pm. This event is in partnership with Council’s Youth Engagement Advisory Committee and Youth Off the Streets.
The event will consist of information stalls, a photo booth, White Ribbon Day pledge signing and an interactive booth facilitated by the School of Rap, who will be running a lyric/poem competition.
