Councillor Amanda McClaren will lead the Council to the end of its four year term, having been recently re-elected as Mayor for another two years.

This was determined at a recent Statutory Council Meeting, where Council also resolved not to elect a Deputy Mayor for the next twelve months, providing the opportunity for Ward Councillors to rotate Mayoral duties in Cr McClaren’s absence.

Cr McClaren said she was truly honoured to be afforded the opportunity to continue to lead as Mayor for the next two years.

“It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to lead Council right through to the end of our term and I look forward to working closely with my fellow Councillors as a voice for our communities,” Cr McClaren said.

“We’ve got so much more that we want to achieve, and with upcoming State and Federal elections, we will continue to advocate strongly for our region.

We are at the halfway point in our four year term and the next two years will be critical for our Council, particularly as we undertake the recruitment and appointment of our next CEO,” Mayor McClaren said.
