City of Ballarat welcomes a promise by the State Government that it will spend $11.8 million on facilities at the Eureka Sports Precinct – Mars Stadium and Ballarat Sports and Events Centre – should it be re-elected at the 24 November poll.
Ballarat Mayor, Cr Samantha McIntosh says an investment in community and elite sporting facilities will be welcomed by the many athletes who will use the venues.
“This is a project the City of Ballarat has been lobbying for - basketball is a popular sport in Ballarat, the proposed new high-performance centre and training hub at the Ballarat Sports and Events Centre will provide new opportunities for talented young local players and improve capacity to host competitions and events.”
“The improvements which have been promised at Eureka Stadium will help ensure that fans can enjoy the sporting action with increased comfort and convenience”.
“We know that active communities are healthier, happier and more connected communities. Sport plays a massive role in this; investment in sporting facilities is money well spent”.
