Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will re-open Cressbrook Dam to the public on Friday afternoon; November 16 after maintenance work saw it closed for a week.
TRC Water and Waste portfolio leader Cr Bill Cahill said Council would re-open and remove signage ready for the weekend.
“Council advises that a wood fire ban remains in force due to extremely dry conditions at both the camping area and in the surrounding landscape.
“The area is still experiencing a high fire danger in this part of the region and without further rain that risk will increase over the Christmas period.
“This is the peak time for our dams and we are expecting to have a big demand on campsites over the coming weeks with the start of school holidays.
“Cressbrook Dam offers many recreational activities including boating, fishing and bush walking, camping and picnicking.
“I would encourage the community to get active during their Christmas break and explore our dams.”
“Cooby Dam is also open for boating, fishing, picnics and bush walking; however Perseverance Dam remains closed to the public until further notice.”
