Learn more about opportunities to do business with Council

Armidale Regional Council is hosting a series of workshops to help businesses in the region better understand local procurement with Council and retain more local spend in the Armidale Regional economy.

Council has maintained a very healthy relationship with local businesses in the Armidale region for many years. However for some local business owners it can be a struggle to understand some of the more complex procurement processes around legislative requirements and Local Government.

In response, Council’s Business and Economic Development team will convene a series of workshops over the next six months to discuss various aspects of local procurement.  The first session will be held on Tuesday 20 November at 5.30pm at the New England Art Museum and will address local government procurement topics such as tendering, quotations, purchasing and supplier requirements. 

Armidale Regional Council CEO Susan Law said it was good business practice for Council to assist local businesses to understand how procurement works within the Local Government sector.

“By providing business owners in the region with the necessary skills and knowledge to do business with Council through a large contract like the Local Government Procurement Contract Council is also improving its local spend and in turn local businesses are being exposed to a much larger potential market,” said CEO Susan Law.

Council’s Program Leader Procurement, Contracts & Leases Cindy Garrahy will present at the event. Cindy is passionate about local procurement and is keen to inform businesses about processes to enhance their competitive.
