The City of Swan has been recognised for excellence, creativity and innovation at the 2018 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards, taking out two gold awards.
The City’s Swan Valley Visitor Centre (SVVC) was awarded the best Visitor Centre in WA at the tourism industry’s night of nights.
Entwined in the Valley festival was awarded gold in the Destination Marketing category, marking the first accolade for the epic Swan Valley event.
City of Swan Deputy Mayor Kevin Bailey said it was a great honour to accept the top accolades.
“The SVVC is a highly awarded Visitor Centre, with many other awards in recent years including Gold at the 2017 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, where it was recognised as the best in Australia out of more than 500 others,” he said.
“Entwined in the Valley has been a hugely successful event since its inception in 2014, and this award recognises the creative and innovative team behind the event.
“I’d like to congratulate Sandalford Wines and Mandoon Estate for receiving gold and bronze awards respectfully for their categories.
“Together, we are showing the very best of our premier region.”
The Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards are organised by the Tourism Council of Western Australia and supported by State Government through Tourism Western Australia.
Councillor Bailey said the City of Swan is extremely proud of its contribution toward visitor servicing and destination marketing in Western Australia.
“The City of Swan has been a strong supporter of tourism for many years and it is a great feeling to be recognised for our efforts in this space,” he said.
“We look forward to continuing to provide superior services to our visitors whilst boosting our local economy through tourism and delivering high quality community events into the future.”
The gold medallists in categories 1 to 25 will go on to represent Western Australia at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, to be held in Launceston on March 1, 2019.
