City of Ballarat has welcomed an announcement by the State Opposition that it will spend $20 million to provide additional free parking infrastructure in Ballarat if it is elected at the 24 November poll.

Ballarat Mayor Cr Samantha McIntosh says parking availability and cost is an issue in all major cities which are growing rapidly, and Ballarat is no exception.

“This is a great announcement for the City of Ballarat, once that will be welcomed by residents, business and visitors to our city.

“City of Ballarat is pleased that the State Opposition has promised funding to help Council find a long term solution to parking issues in Ballarat. I look forward to working through the detail of what form the new parking will take and where it will be located.”

“City of Ballarat has been talking to residents and business about their parking needs for some months – I look forward to determining how this proposal will impact our plans for a new approach to parking”.
