Bellingen Branch Libraries are seeking community feedback on the types of items it purchases for its collection.

Shire Librarian, Jill Haynes said, “As part of the goal of providing a high quality, relevant service a major collection survey will be made available during November and December seeking suggestions about authors, areas of interest and different reading formats.”

“Developments such as the growth in popularity of ebooks, eaudiobooks, and the changing subject interests of our community make it necessary for libraries to engage their customers in the selection of materials. This is carried out on an ongoing basis through purchase requests and community book selection days, but this survey will help to gain a better view of what people want.”

“The last collection survey was held in 2014 and showed that Australiana was the most popular genre in fiction while Biographies came out on top in the non-fiction category. We look forward to seeing what has changed over the last four years”, added Ms Haynes.

The survey can be accessed via the Clarence Regional Library website at www.crl.nsw.gov.au from 12 November until 22 December 2018 or printed copies are available through the branch libraries.

The survey will take 10 minutes to complete and can be anonymous.  Those people who chose to add their contact details will go in the draw to win a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
