Media alert - 16 November 2018

Campbelltown City Council will join forces with Campbelltown City Police and community groups in saying no to violence against women by taking part in the White Ribbon Day Convoy through the region on Friday 23 November.

Now in its fourth year, the convoy will see community leaders and groups come together to send a united and powerful message on White Ribbon Day that domestic violence and violence against women will not be tolerated in Campbelltown.

A north convoy and a south convoy will each travel through the Campbelltown Local Government Area with numerous activities at each stop.

Meet the north convoy at Minto Marketplace at 10am and Eagle Vale Marketplace at 11.30am.

The south convoy will arrive at AB Central, at Airds, at 10am and Macarthur Square, at Kellicar Lane at 11.30am.

The two convoys will meet at Koshigaya Park at 1pm for the taking of the White Ribbon Oath, to help create a future free from violence, followed by speeches and a barbecue lunch.

Council will also host a White Ribbon Day Lunch on the Lawn outside the administration building, at 91 Queen St, from noon to 2pm.

Staff and community members will come together at the lunch to watch the convoy travel down Queen St and to take the White Ribbon Oath.

The community is encouraged to support the White Ribbon Day Convoy and Lunch on the Lawn which will raise awareness about domestic and family violence and the impact it has on the community.

Council’s involvement in White Ribbon Day is part of the organisation’s commitment to zero tolerance to violence of any kind, particularly violence against women.
