A new television advertising campaign aimed at attracting more visitors to the Western Downs will air this weekend.

Beautiful imagery of the region coupled with friendly faces will hit television screens on Sunday.

Along with the social media hashtag #experiencewesterndowns, the campaign aims to boost visitation to the region.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said he was looking forward to watching the first airing of the ad on Sunday.

“The campaign captures the essence of the Western Downs region through the collection of stories of our local characters, diverse landscapes, rich history and significant places,” he said.

“We want people from around the state to know the Western Downs is the perfect place for your next holiday.

“In the Western Downs you can go to fantastic events, visit beautiful and scenic locations and have an authentic rural experience like no other.”

The television ad offers viewers the finest aspects of the Western Downs, its locations and its people.

The beauty of the Bunya Mountains, the excitement of the Dalby Picnic Races, the magnificent Miles Historical Village Museum and gorgeous images of Jimbour House are just some of the events which are part of the campaign.

Chinchilla melon farmer Darryl O’Leary and Condamine farmers Marguerita Morgan and Robyn Nixon lend their smiling faces to the campaign as some of the region’s friendly characters.

These images encapsulate the #experiencewesterndowns theme enticing tourists to experience everything the Western Downs has to offer.
