Tara Library helping residents achieve career goals

The Tara Library is so much more than just an information centre for the community.

The staff at the Tara Library are helping 21-year-old Crystal Coffee complete her university degree.

Ms Coffee is currently studying a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education at USQ but is completing her degree online from Tara.

Ms Coffee said she does not have the internet where she lives and can only achieve her goals because of the facilities provided by the Tara Library.

“The Tara Library has been so important to me to be able to complete my university degree,” she said.

“I can borrow all of the textbooks for my research and I also use the children’s books as resource material.

“The staff at the Tara Library are so helpful, they even proof-read my assignments before I submit them.”

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said stories like Ms Coffee’s are just some of the reasons libraries are important to the community.

“Through our libraries, Council wants to foster the education and ambition of our younger community members,” she said.

“People can do so much more at our libraries and our fantastic staff members are there to help them with resources and support.

“Council is always thrilled when we hear great stories like Crystal’s because it reaffirms our desire to provide spaces to develop our communities.”
