The Town wishes to advise that the detailed design of the Principal Shared Path, which will run between Success Hill and Railway Parade, Bassendean, is almost complete.
As a result of consultation undertaken with our community, the updated design for the project has ensured the removal of trees is minimised by modifying the path alignment and includes raised platforms to protect mature tree roots.
The project has also been identified as a pilot Green Transport Route – a Department of Transport initiative that enhances path amenity through landscaping and engagement.
As part of the initiative the Department will be providing the Town with three replacement trees for every one removed, which will be distributed along the path and surrounding area. Improved lighting will also improve walkability in the area at night.
As the project progresses the Town and Department will work with the community to determine what kind of activities and other amenities you would like to see along the route.
