Nominations for the 2019 FReeZA Committee are now open, providing a chance for young people in our region to gain skills and experience which could benefit them for decades to come.
Mildura’s FReeZA program is coordinated by Council’s Youth Services team and provides young people aged 16 to 25 with the opportunity to lead the planning and staging of live music and cultural events for the community.
Funded by the State Government, the program is open to young people who either live, work or study in the Council municipality and provides a unique opportunity for real world experience in a diverse range of areas.
Councillor for Community Wellbeing and Services Min Poole encouraged Sunraysia’s younger residents to consider becoming involved.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people in our region to meet like-minded people their own age, learn new skills, and make a real difference in our district, all the while participating in something that’s fun and rewarding,” Cr Poole said.
“It’s also a chance to gain new experience in committee members’ area of interest as well as providing networking opportunities that could benefit them in years to come.”
Committee members will be responsible for producing, promoting and evaluating five events within the Mildura municipality next year.
Cr Poole said being a member of the FReeZA Committee required a significant level of commitment from members, however it offered even more in personal rewards and experience.
To participate in the program, nominees must be aged 16 to 25 as of 1 January, 2019 and live, work or study in the Council area.
Nominations must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 30 November this year, and for the first time can now be submitted online.
Nomination forms and more information is available on Council’s website by searching for ‘FReeZA’.
