Cessnock City Council is proud to announce the Mayoral Scholarships are open again for residents looking to further their education in 2019.
The Mayoral Scholarships support those in the community who are working hard to build a career and are enrolled to study next year.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said this program is fantastic and offers a number of scholarships for a variety of areas.
“If you’re studying at university or TAFE see if you are eligible for one of the nine scholarships on offer. The scholarships are $2,500 and can be used at the recipient’s discretion to support their studies. Textbooks, travel or tools can be very costly, this can take some of the pressure off and allow a student to focus on their study.”
Students enrolled in TAFE or university in 2019 who are residents of the Cessnock Local Government Area can apply. Please read the criteria for each scholarship carefully. The following scholarships are available:
Sponsor Scholarship Austar Coal Mine (part of the Yancoal Australia Group) Mining Technical/ Engineering Cessnock Retired Mineworkers Mining The Rotary Club of Cessnock Building and Associated Trades Cessnock Leagues Club John Knipe Memorial Hospitality and Tourism Hunter Resource Recovery Post HSC (Graduated in the past 2 years) Hunter Resource Recovery Undergraduate (Current Student from 2017) Kurri Kurri Retired Mineworkers Association Local Government Northern District Retired Mineworkers Merv Mahon Memorial UndergraduateScholarships are for one year and are valued at $2,500.
