Council has begun work to upgrade our sports fields at St Matthews Farm Reserve, South Creek Rd, Cromer.

The rectification works at St Matthews Farm Reserve Sports Fields are being undertaken to better serve the growing sporting needs of the local community.

The sports fields are being cleverly reconfigured to provide an extra playing field using the existing available land. The works will include the levelling of the playing surface, laying of 35,000 m2 new turf and extension of the irrigation system. We will also reuse approximately 3,500m3 of high quality topsoil from the Cromer 2 synthetic project.

Facilities at St Matthews Farm Reserve will comprise of:

3 full size soccer fields and a rugby league field in winter,Baseball and cricket fields in summerPractice nets for cricket and baseballNew energy efficient LED lighting for all fields.

Existing facilities that will remain open for use during these works include the skate facility, basketball half-court, public toilets and car parking. The cricket and baseball nets are accessible from the northern edge of the reserve.

Works will be completed by April, weather permitting, in time for the start of the winter sports season.

St Matthews Farm Reserve is one of 13 separate reserves that join to form a continuous open space network known as the Dee Why Valley and South Creek Open Space Corridor.
