Give a little hope to those in need this festive season
City of Armadale 19 Nov 2018

Carols by Candlelight goers can give back this Christmas and support families in need through the Salvation Army’s annual Hope Appeal Food Bank.

The City of Armadale will host the Food Bank drive at the Carols by Candlelight in Memorial Park on 7 December.

City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said that community members are encouraged to bring a non-perishable item to donate to help make the lives of those doing it tough this Christmas a little easier.

“The Salvation Army Armadale exists to transform lives and help people become the best person they can be and provides various degrees of support to our community including their annual Hope Appeal Food Bank drive.

“A lot of us are fortunate to be able to put food on the table each day, but for some people their circumstances may see them struggling more during the festive season. This is a nice way for us to give back and help those families in need so that they too can celebrate this Christmas.”

Non-perishable food items include tinned foods, long-life milk, cereals, coffee, tea, packet soups, pasta and rice, potato chips, chocolates and biscuits.

“It’s not just the everyday basic food items you can donate. Celebratory food is also appreciated so please bring the festive season to their tables by donating thing like Christmas cake, bonbons and boxed custard,” added Mayor Zelones.

The Christmas Parade will begin at 6pm and Carols by Candlelight will begin at 7pm and is a family friendly, alcohol and smoke free event.
