A new series of family fun days will give young people in the Armidale region some fun and educational activities in the upcoming Christmas school holidays.
The free fun days in Guyra, Tingha and Armidale in the second week of January are a joint initiative of Council’s Youth & Family and Aboriginal community development services.
“Each event will incorporate local community services, with many of them offering fun activities for people of all ages,” Youth & Family Coordinator Alice Cleaver said.
“While much of the focus will be on school holiday fun, activities will be designed to educate youth people, parents and guardians about available services and how they can help them.
“There will also be a water slide, sumo suits, biscuit decorating, face painting and a giant dart board.”
Aboriginal Community Development Office Lisa Waters said funding from the NSW Office of Sport – along with financial input by Council - meant community members could enjoy all the activities for free, to encourage as many people as possible to attend.
Family Fun Day schedule: •Armidale:8 January 2019 – Curtis Park •Guyra:9 January 2019 – Recreation ground •Tingha:10 January 2019 – Recreation ground
Further information, including event times, will be available soon on Council’s Facebook page, as well as the Children & Young People page on Council’s website.
