Council is calling for expressions of interest from people interested in making a difference in their community to join the Health and Wellbeing Advisory Committee.

The committee was established in 2014 and provides strategic input and advice on a wide range of Council programs and services.

Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork said it was a great opportunity for proactive residents to positively contribute to Council’s decision-making.

“We are looking to bring up to seven new members to the committee, creating a diverse group of people, from a broad range of age groups, including a youth ambassador,” Ms Stork said.

The committee is made up of 12 community representatives and three Councillors, with eligible nominees required to live or work in the Macedon Ranges Shire, be actively involved in the community and have a good understanding of local and regional issues.

Ms Stork said Council was particularly interested in hearing from people who have knowledge and experience in ageing, disability, youth, families, health, mental health, sustainability and the environment, recreation, education, business and economic development, community development, and indigenous communities.

The committee meets quarterly, and the newly-appointed community members will serve for a three-year term.

Council is holding an information evening on Wednesday 12 December from 6pm to 7pm at the Gisborne Administration Centre. The session will provide an overview of the committee’s role and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

“If you want to positively contribute to the health and wellbeing of people who live and work in our shire, and you are active in your community, consider putting yourself forward,” Ms Stork said.

“Council recognises that the majority, if not all, of our activities impact on the health and wellbeing of residents, so it’s really important that we hear from the community directly.”
