Council has endorsed long term funding agreements with the Moama Water Sports Club and Westbound Productions to support the delivery and growth of two key events in Campaspe Shire – the Southern 80 Ski Race and the Riverboats Music Festival.

Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said the Southern 80 Ski Race and Riverboats Music Festival are nationally recognised events with an avid following.

“These iconic major events have put Echuca Moama on the map and contribute greatly to the local economy,” Cr Weston said.

A three year funding agreement with the Moama Water Sports Club for the Southern 80 Ski Race will provide ongoing financial security to ensure the continuation of the event. The three year commitment is:

In 2019 funding of $25,000 plus in-kind support to the same value In 2020 funding of $20,000 plus in-kind support to the value of $25,000 In 2021 funding of $15,000 plus in-kind support to the value of $25,000

To support the delivery and growth of the Riverboats Music Festival, council has agreed to enter into a five year funding agreement with Westbound Productions commencing in 2019 with:

funding support of $5,000 plus in kind support to the value of $6,600 until 2023.

Campaspe has an enviable events calendar. Events are very important for the local region as they provide entertainment, encourage social cohesion and community participation.

“Events are crucial to the tourism industry, bringing with them enormous benefit to the shire’s economic base, culture and environment. These funding agreements will go a long way in ensuring the ongoing sustainability of such events in our region,” Cr Weston said.
