The preliminary approval for a health and wellbeing precinct in Agnes Water was passed yesterday by the Gladstone Regional Council.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett was thrilled to have a project such as this one proposed for the Agnes Water community.

“This is a great resource for members of our Gladstone Region Community,” Councillor Burnett said.

“It supports and promotes sustainable living within the Agnes Water area, and it’s a project that puts the best interest of the community first.

“It will provide a new option for those wanting to retire in Agnes Water.”

The preliminary approval for the health and wellbeing precinct was an impact assessable application, meaning now it has been passed by Council based upon its overall design, subsequent applications won’t go back through Council chambers, unless necessary.

“The project will now move onto the necessary stages of development approval, as this was only the preliminary stage,” Cr Burnett said.

“This just allowed Council to have a full understanding of the developments intentions.

“The Gladstone Region is looking for retirement options, age care options, so it’s good to see this sort of project moving forward.

“Council do have an incentive policy encouraging developments such as this one, so it would be great to see projects like this replicated across the region.”

The site is located to the north of the Agnes Water town centre along Captain Cook Drive, the main road between Agnes Water and Seventeen Seventy.

The application seeks to divide the subject site into two allotments – one being the health and wellbeing precinct and the other (the balance lot) will remain zoned as emerging community.
