Broken Hill, it is your turn to create your own national capital and replicate iconic buildings in Canberra like Parliament House and the National Carillon with over 30,000 bricks of LEGOTM.
Councillor Maureen Clark, who launched the Brick by Brick: Build Your Own Capital exhibition in Broken Hill, said it allowed children to learn through play.
“Brick by Brick provides a great opportunity to strengthen Broken Hill’s connection with our national capital and to create an understanding of why Canberra is important to all of us,” Cr Clark said.
“This hands-on exhibition uses LEGOTM to help inform Australians about major cultural institutions and other buildings in their National Capital.
“Learning through play is a great way to engage people of all ages. Having Brick by Brick at Broken Hill City Library will enable our community to explore their capital from their own town.
“The National Capital belongs to all Australians, I’m looking forward to seeing all of the creations and ideas our community has for our capital.”
National Capital Authority Exhibition Manager Roslyn Hull said the Brick by Brick: Build Your Own Capital touring exhibition helps connect people in the regions with their National Capital.
“We are thrilled to partner with Broken Hill City Council to bring Brick by Brick back to NSW again, having made its way across Australia since 2014,” Ms Hull said.
“Brick by Brick is an educational exhibition that provides the opportunity for people to discover more about the history and significance of our nation’s capital, Canberra.
“Building with Lego™ is appealing to all ages, this exhibition is a fun way to get people thinking about the buildings they want to see in our National Capital.”
