Santa Claus will be arriving from the sky to join the festivities at the Campbelltown City Christmas Carols at The Athletics Centre at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Saturday 1 December.
Round up your family and friends, pack a blanket and bring your best singing voice to join host Nathan Foley for this popular annual event which attracts thousands of visitors and runs from 5-9pm.
Foley, who is best known for his success as a singer and performer for 10 years on Channel 9’s Hi-5, will be joined by a full band and a stream of talented local performers at the event.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic said Campbelltown City Christmas Carols was a wonderful chance for residents and families to come together as a community to celebrate the start of the festive season and sing their favourite yuletide tunes.
“Most of the carollers who will be performing on the stage are local residents and this celebration will be a great opportunity for them to sing in front of their families, friends and the wider community,’’ Cr Brticevic said.
“Campbelltown City Christmas Carols is also a great alternative for residents and people with young families so they don’t have to travel all the way into Sydney city to enjoy the festive spirit and a community event like this one.
“We are also excited to have Santa Claus with us again this year and his arrival will be an incredible spectacle to watch and a great thrill for the children in the audience.
“We are very glad that Santa is able to take time out from his busy schedule to join us.’’
The free festivities begin with pre-show entertainment at 5pm, followed by carols from 6pm and concluding with a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm.
Free children’s craft workshops will be held between 5-7pm.
Footy and soccer fans will be entertained with ball games and a soccer clinic provided by the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Western Sydney Wanderers.
There will be a special performance from Matavai Cultural Arts and a Pacific choir at the event.
People can also buy glow and light up products to wave on the night.
There will also be a variety of delicious food options to purchase at the celebration.
Visitors are invited to donate to the Mayor’s Annual Christmas Appeal at the event by leaving a new and unwrapped gift or non-perishable food item in the collection box which will be located near the Council information tent.
Residents are also reminded that fireworks can easily scare animals. If your pet tends to be frightened by loud noises, make sure you keep them restrained or inside the house on the night as fireworks will be released at 9pm.
Council is proud to host the carols celebration in association with event partner Wests Group Macarthur, major sponsor Menangle Park, supporting sponsor Campbelltown Chamber of Commerce, who will be providing the fireworks display, media partner Channel 9, along with the support of Rotary Clubs of Campbelltown and Macarthur Sunrise.
Campbelltown City Christmas Carols is a drug and alcohol free event.
Cost of entry is free and access to the event is via the western gates only which is adjacent to the railway station and Wests League Club, located on Old Leumeah Road.
Parking is available on both sides of the railway line, with easy access to the stadium via the pedestrian bridge from the western carpark.
