The 2019 Senshu International City Marathon in Japan is less than three months away and Northern Beaches Council is looking for two local marathon runners to take part in the race.

The runners will represent the Northern Beaches community.

Return airfares from Sydney to Osaka will be paid for by Tadaoka Town Government, along with the costs of accommodation for the two runners while in Japan, as part of Council’s friendship agreement with the city.

The Senshu International Marathon on 17 February 2019 is one of the major sporting events in Japan, with over 5,000 runners from across the country and overseas.

The marathon takes place in the southern part of Osaka Prefecture, passing through nine cities and four towns.

The successful applicants would be away from Australia from 14 to 19 February 2019 and must be aged 18 and over and a resident of the Northern Beaches.

Participants are required to have run at least one marathon before and be Australian citizens.

Applications close 5pm, Monday 10 December 2018.
