With just days left until nominations close for the Livingstone Shire Australia Day Awards, Council is encouraging the community to nominate someone they believe goes above and beyond for their community.
These awards identify and celebrate outstanding citizens who have contributed to creating a better future for not only the Livingstone Shire, but all Australians.
Australia Day Award’s Committee chair and Deputy Mayor Nigel Hutton said if you know an individual or a group who shows enthusiasm and dedication through their involvement in the community, now is the time to nominate them.
“This is a great opportunity to acknowledge and show appreciation for those who contribute selflessly to the community through numerous avenues such as sporting clubs, environment, arts and more,” Cr Hutton said.
“We’ve already seen some fantastic entries for next year’s awards but we’re still seeking more entries across all categories.
“It’s important to acknowledge community members who rise to challenges with which they are faced and promote a positive outlook on life, while inspiring and improving the lives of others.
“Livingstone Shire is really fortunate to have countless community members and groups who demonstrate incredible kindness, commitment and enthusiasm in constantly making our region a better place for everyone and I urge you to show them your support by nominating them in the 2018 Australia Day Awards.”
