Urunga Neighbourhood Centre and Bellingen Shire Council will celebrate International Day of People with a Disability in 2018 with a Community Celebration on the Green in Urunga.

When/Where: The event will take place on Monday 3 December in the garden of the Urunga Neighbourhood Centre and on the Village Green outside the Urunga Library, Bonville Street, Urunga commencing at 10.00am.

What's On: The morning will include performances from children at Urunga Pre-School, Urunga Public School and Urunga Stepping Stones Pre-School and Early Child Care Centre. In addition, there will be a demonstration from the Japan Karate Association (JKA), all inclusive games, entertainment and information stalls on the Village Green and a barbecue lunch which will be generously provided by the Bellingen and Urunga Neighbourhood Centres, the Community Transport Company and the Urunga Lions Club.

Awards: A key feature of the morning will be the presentation of this year’s Ian J. Cooper Awards for Access and Inclusion which will be awarded to businesses, groups and individuals who have been nominated by community members for their commitment to improving access and inclusion in the Bellingen Shire.

About the Day: International Day of People with a Disability is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people with a disability.
