The winners of the #BestofWarby photo competition have been selected based on the creative ways they showed off elements of the 40km Lilydale to Warburton Trail which runs through the Yarra Ranges municipality.
Launching Place resident Emma Rowe won the competition with her photo (below) taken at the bridge going over Woori Yallock Creek near Woori Yallock.
Second place went to Gruyere resident Cat Walker, whose photo (below) was taken at Woori Yallock with her large pony Rocco.
“I’ve ridden other parts of the trail before, but I did some recon to find the perfect section for Rocco’s first time as he is young, sensitive and huge,” Ms Walker said.
“That meant finding somewhere safe to unload, open enough to see cyclists from a distance, with room to get off the trail so he didn’t feel crowded when passing others, and not too busy.
“Woori Yallock was ideal and our carefully planned outing went exactly as hoped. It was a safe and fun introduction to prepare him for hitting the trail with a rider when he’s ready. The Rocco-sized mounting block will come in handy then!”
The mountain vistas, forest trails, vineyards, farms with emus, llamas, cows and sheep, are some of the breath-taking sites to be enjoyed along the Lilydale to Warburton Trail.
We received many wonderful photo entries showing off all of the trail’s attributes, on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, using the #BestofWarby and #BestofWarbyTrail hashtags.
