The Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup is continuing its commitment to creating a safe environment for all road users by installing courtesy speed display signs in Donnybrook. The signs are currently set up on Collins Street Donnybrook and officers are currently liaising with Main Roads WA (MRWA) to have the signs installed on South Western Highway over the Christmas and New Year period.
Excess speed has been an issue in this area and the courtesy speed display signs, on loan from WALGA’s RoadWise, is the latest initiative being rolled out to help reduce speeds in the Donnybrook Townsite.
By detecting the speed of approaching vehicles, and displaying the speed and/or message as feedback to the driver if they need to change their driving behaviour (using a ‘thank you’ or ‘slow down’ message), the courtesy speed display signs serve as an immediate reminder for drivers to slow down.
Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup Chief Executive Officer, Ben Rose said reducing travel speeds along Collins Street, Donnybrook adjacent the Apple FunPark was vital in order to help make the road safer for all road users.
Be aware of your own speed when travelling on our roads. Slow down, enjoy the ride.

Yours Sincerely
Benjamin (Ben) Rose Chief Executive Officer
