Council is calling for expressions of interest from any resident, property owner or business operator in the shire interested in becoming an independent member of its Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee is an advisory committee which provides strategic input and advice on a range of controls relating to the delivery of Council’s programs and services.
It oversees and monitors Council’s effectiveness in carrying out its responsibilities for accountable financial management, good corporate governance, maintaining an effective system of internal control and risk management and fostering an ethical environment.
The Audit Committee is made up of three independent members and two Councillors and meets a minimum of four times a year. A report from each Audit Committee meeting is subsequently provided to Council.
It is currently expected there will be one vacancy on the Audit Committee for a two-year term until 31 December 2020.
Chief Executive Officer, Margot Stork said expressions of interest would be assessed according to a criteria detailed in an information pack available for applicants.
“We are particularly looking for people with good analytical skills and experience in governance,” Ms Stork said.
