Council is making improvements to facilities throughout the shire, with the following works and projects currently underway.
Improvements to Romsey and Riddells Creek kindergartensRefurbishment works at the Romsey and Riddells Creek kindergartens and Maternal and Child Health rooms are nearing completion.
The works will see internal spaces at the centres refurbished and refreshed, and improve the quality of learning environments to meet the needs of our growing community.
It is anticipated that the works will be completed during Term 4.
New tennis courts in KynetonWorks are underway for the reconstruction of six tennis courts in Kyneton.
This work has been funded by Council and the Kyneton & District Tennis Club to renew existing facilities and include four new synthetic grass courts, two plexiplave courts and the installation of new lighting.
Works are scheduled to be completed by March 2019.
Demolition works underwayWe will be demolishing several disused structures and buildings before the end of the year, including:
an unused portable at Tylden Reserve a house at Kyneton Botanic Gardens the pump sheds at Kyneton Velodrome the squash courts in Woodend.The work will reduce overall maintenance costs on buildings that are no longer required for community use.
Roads, drainage and footpath networksThere are also a number of works and projects to improve roads, drainage and footpath networks throughout the shire underway.
These include:
Major culvert reconstruction at Three Chain Road in Newham.Work has started in Three Chain Road, Newham between Dons Road and Bolgers Lane to remove the existing culvert, install a new culvert and replace the sealed road. The works are due to be completed in mid-December.
Footpath improvementsOngoing improvements to our footpath network are happening across the shire.
The following works are underway or due to start soon:
Construction of new footpaths at Mahoney’s Road and Merrifield Street in Riddells Creek, and Mair and Simpson streets in Kyneton. Upgrades to footpath surfaces at Neal Street in Gisborne.There are also works underway to improve drainage, road structure and the surface of Chanters Lane in Tylden, and drainage improvements between Ladye Place and Morris Place at Mount Macedon Road, Woodend.
